Computer Technician CompTIA A+ Certification

Course Objectives:

The programme aims to prepare students for the A+ examination and covers all the topics for the 2 main areas:

  1. A+ Operating System Technologies and
  2. A+ Core Hardware Service Technician

 Students must be successful in both these areas in order to  receive the full A+ Certification

 A+ Operating System Technologies

This examination measures essential operating system competencies for microcomputer hardware service technicians.  The student must demonstrate basic knowledge of Command Line Prompt, Windows 9x and Windows 2000 for installing, Configuring, Upgrading, Troubleshooting and Repairing microcomputer systems.

 Listed below are the domains measured by this examination and the extent to which they are represented

      Operating Systems Fundamentals                                  30%

      Installation, Configuration and Upgrading                       15%

      Diagnosing and Troubleshooting                                    40%

      Networks                                                                     15%

  A+ Core Hardware Service Technician

 This examination measures essential competencies for a microcomputer hardware service  technician.  The student must demonstrate a basic knowledge in installing configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing microcomputer systems.

 Listed below are the domains measured by this examination and the extent to which they are represented

Installation, Configuration and Upgrading                       30%

Diagnosing and Troubleshooting                                    30%

Preventive Maintenance                                                5%

Motherboard/Processing/Memory                                 15%

 Course Pre-Requisites

Students must be fully computer literate.  Prior knowledge of PC Repairs & Maintenance will be useful. 

      Times and Duration           

The programme runs for approximately 5-6 months on Saturdays only and for 3 months during the week.
